Volcanic Ash Cloud Halts Flights at Five Indonesian Airports, Including Jakarta's A sudden volcanic ash cloud from Anak Krakatau has led to the closure of five Indonesian airports, including Soekarno Hatta international airport in Jakarta.

The shutdown affected over 300 departures and arrivals, stranding hundreds of passengers. The volcano erupted on Saturday, spewing lava and booming sounds that could be heard up to 700 kilometers away.

The ash cloud reached as high as 6,000 meters above sea level on the Java side of the volcano, posing a significant threat to aircraft safety.
