UK Retailers' Gamble on Young People's Futures The UK's youth unemployment crisis has been a long standing issue, and finally, retailers have decided to take action.

Over 40 major brands, including Marks & Spencer, Asda, and John Lewis Partnership, are joining forces with the government to create up to 100,000 jobs for young people not in employment, education, or training (Neet) over the next three years.

This initiative, dubbed "Opening Shift," is a response to warnings from experts like former health secretary Alan Milburn that the number of Neets could rise to 1. 25 million by 2027 unless drastic measures are taken.
