UK Asylum Hotel Numbers Halve

The Asylum Seeker Conundrum Worsens: Hotel Numbers Plummet but Deeper Issues Persist The number of asylum seekers living in hotels across the UK has halved in a year, from 32,041 to 16,021, according to Home Office figures.

This decline is largely attributed to faster asylum decision making, which has allowed for the closure of many hotels.

As Nuni Jorgensen, a researcher at the University of Oxford's Migration Observatory, notes, quicker decisions have facilitated the transition away from hotels.
